Gaskets - Installation requirements for sealing gaskets
1. The sealing surface of gasket and flange should be cleaned without any scratches, spots and other defects that affect the sealing performance of the connection.
2. The outer diameter of the sealing gasket should be smaller than the outer surface of the flange sealing surface, and the inner diameter of the sealing gasket should be slightly larger than the inner diameter of the pipe. The difference between the two inner diameters is generally 2 times the thickness of the sealing gasket to ensure that the inner edge of the sealing gasket does not extend into the container or pipeline after compression, so as not to hinder the flow of the fluid in the container or pipeline.
3, the sealing gasket preloading force should not exceed the design provisions, so as to avoid the sealing gasket over-compression loss of rebound ability.
4. When sealing gasket is pressed, it is best to use torque wrench.For large bolts and high strength bolts, it is best to use hydraulic tensioner.Tightening torque should be calculated according to the given sealing gasket compression, and the oil pressure of the hydraulic tensioner should also be determined by calculation.
5. When installing the sealing gasket, the nuts should be tightened in order.But should not twist once to reach the design value.Generally, it should be circulated at least 2~3 times in order to evenly distribute the stress of the sealing gasket.
6. For the pressure vessels and pipes of flammable and explosive media, ety tools should be used when replacing the sealing gaskets, so as not to cause sparks due to the collision between the tools and flanges or bolts, leading to fire or explosion accidents.[1]
7. If there is leakage in the pipeline, it must be replaced or adjusted to install the sealing gasket after depressurized treatment. Operation with pressure is strictly prohibited.
